"Since you've been gone, since you've been gone/I'm out of my mind, can't take it!"
As should be patently obvious to everyone still bothering to check in on this once vital discourse of LeBron James's NBA career and Biegel's "Comments" links to women eliminating squids from places where squids do not belong, I've been a bit preoccupied trying to make Collider.com a worthwhile destination in the great wide world of the world wide web. So far, so I dunno. Your opinions are welcome so long as they're either glowing or negative bordering on libel.
Honestly, I've been waiting for the Cavs to finalize their roster with a real starting point guard and a credible back-up center to spur me back into the blogging habit, which should happen forthwith now that the new CBA is finalized, but, until then, I would like to suggest that you take twenty-minutes out of your day to read this... well, not really "great" interview with David Edelstein, because his questioner ain't the swiftest boat in the harbor (OPEN WATER as Jaws' "spiritual sequel"?). But David's brilliant throughout -- insightful, combative and even-handed in the best liberal tradition (though I still disagree with his soft-pedaling of FAHRENHEIT 9/11's inexcusable flaws just because it's correct in the broad sense). Plus, he beats up on THE LIFE OF DAVID GALE and Alan Parker repeatedly, which, frankly, is something critics should do daily as batting practice. (Look, Parker can be a valuable filmmaker -- particularly with stuff like SHOOT THE MOON or BIRDY -- but when he tries to get political, he turns into a spectacular imbecile. And, when he hoodwinks critics, as he did in 1988 with MISSISSIPPI BURNING, he must be spanked.)
The Q? Eh...
